Deuteronomy 15:10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
This versr is in the instructions to His people about forgiving debts, but this verse also reminds me about giving unto the Lord, and I first thought giving monetarily. But as I mulled it over more, I remembered there are so many more ways to give to Him than money. I wish I could donate a fortune to my church because I love it so much, but there are times when I cannot even afford $5 (and God knows all about this). But, something I can do every single day is give to Him of my time, my heart, my thoughts, and my daily works. I can wake up every morning amd thank Him for waking me up. I can spend time with Him studying His word and praying. I can do at least one good work for someone every single day, thus changing the outcome of one person’s potentially “bad” day. I can give monetarily when God leads me to and gives me the money to give. For me, most importantly, I can give Him my children, entrusting their lives, hopes, safety, future to His loving hand. What can YOU give God today?
We need to give joyfully out of love for God, not out of duty or guilt. God wants us to give to Him because we want to. I give my time to Him because I love and trust Him. He WILL bless you for your giving and make sure your good works make a difference.
