If God Gave it to You, Don’t Doubt its Validity

Mark 4:24–And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear:  with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you:  and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Our preacher last night (thank you Phillip!) said that if we listen closely God will tell us something to do.  It may be something big like changing jobs or something small like checking on a friend when they are sick, but anything God gives us to do is important, so we should do it.

What my preacher didn’t know is how hard this week has been.  We have had a sick kid (again) who has been very challenging (to say the least) this week and my husband worked a ton of overtime.  Yesterday after morning service we ran into a friend at a restaurant.  She had not met our foster children.  She said something that uplifted and encouraged me after such a rough week (thank you Laura!)  She didn’t know I had a rough week, but what God placed on her heart to tell me was exactly what I needed to hear.

Is God whispering to you asking you to do something for someone else?  Don’t hesitate to do it!  It may seem silly or unimportant to you, but it could make a world of difference to the person on the receiving end.  If God gave it to you, don’t doubt its validity.  Take heed what you hear from God.  In other words, heed His advice, take action, do what He asks.  If you do good for others, good shall be returned unto you.  If you are willing to listen to God and act accordingly, He will continue to speak with you and continue to give you more and more to do, which in turn will bring you more blessings.  After all, giving is always much better than receiving, so your blessings will come when you give of yourself in love, time, and prayer.  The act of lifting up someone else, with God’s guidance of course, is the blessing in itself.
