Have You Ever Stepped Out on Faith?

2 Corinthians 5:7 – (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Have you ever stepped out on faith?  I can say I have had the privilege a few times to do just that.  It has been scary!  It has been hard!  But, it has been worth it!  I recently described to a friend the feeling of stepping out on faith like stepping off the Grand Canyon with no safety net and being confident God will catch us.  I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, but I’ve heard someone has built a glass-bottomed observation platform hanging out over the edge of the abyss.  I think if I ever get the chance to visit, I would be able to step out onto that glass.  If someone built it and says it is safe, I trust it and would do it.  But, our eldest daughter would not.  She has a terrible fear of heights.  No matter how safe we tell her the platform is, I highly doubt she would get anywhere near the edge.  What about you?  Would you step out onto that platform trusting it to be safe?  Or would the fear of falling prevent you from that adventure?

If God asks you to do a work for Him, something that is scary and monstrous and monumental and overwhelming, do you trust Him enough to do it?  Sometimes we feel He is dangling us over the edge of a precipice and the fear of falling is so great, we retreat unable to complete the job.  But, sometimes He gives us something to do and instead of running we are able to take His hand and step out on faith.  And the journey walking with Him is amazing and special and magical, not always easy but always worth it.

I would love to hear stories of times you were able to step out on faith!  Feel free to share them on my facebook or twitter page!
